Sharp's Zaurus SL-5500 PDA sets itself apart from other handhelds with its expansion-slot
keyboard and reliance on the open source Linux operating system. However, analysts say
that despite their appeal to Linux fans and consumers, those distinguishing features are
keeping the Zaurus from making inroads into the enterprise. "It has a lot of strikes
against it," Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney told Wireless NewsFactor. "Sharp needs to go
back to the drawing board on this one."

Government Frees Spectrum for Wireless Carriers
The U.S. government has announced that additional spectrum for wireless communications
services will be placed on the auction block by 2004, for use by the nation's carriers.
Plans call for 90 MHz of radio spectrum to be made available for advanced wireless --
